New Roller C-Head
Sensor Virtually Eliminates Sensor Related Marred Blown Film Surfaces
For Blown Film producers, Plast-Control is introducing a patented
Roller C-Head capacitive sensor for measuring film gauge profile. The Roller C-Head
eliminates sensor generated scratching and marking of film surfaces, commonly
associated with contact sensors.
The new (2001) Plast-Control technology features a wheel type capacitive sensor that
lightly contacts the film bubble surface and rotates at a speed matching that of
the film. Capacitive gauging systems require contact with the media being
measured, stationary capacitive measuring heads even when equipped with special
low friction coating scratch or mark the film as it passes over the head. The
new Roller C-Head once in contact with the film rotates at a speed equal to that
of the film and hence virtually eliminates scratches.
According to Mark Anderson, Plast-Control Sales
Manager, the new system solves a common problem faced by blown film producers.
Traditional sensors contact the film with a stationary surface. The friction
generated by this contact often marks the film, especially softer or stickier
films.
The Roller C-Head provides an effective solution to this problem, while
allowing the processor to remain Non-Nuclear with their gauging solution."
The Plast-Control Rotating C-Head is available with
new Plast-Control production management systems and can be retrofitted to
existing lines. The Roller C-Head has been proven effective in critical
applications to speeds of 500 ft./min. and gauges up to 6 mil.
PLAST-CONTROL manufactures extrusion process control
and management technology in Remscheid, Germany. Systems and components are engineered to enhance the
economics of production or blown film, sheet, pipe and tubing.
PLAST-CONTROL installations have provided over 50% improvements in total
gauge to blown film processes and significantly improving product yield or feet
of sellable products per pound of material. In many cases they have increased
output as well. All
PLAST-CONTROL systems and components can be retrofitted to optimize the economic
performance of most extrusion systems and may be ordered as integral components
of new extrusion lines. PLAST-CONTROL
technology is unique, patented and available only from PLAST-CONTROL. More than
14,000 PLAST-CONTROL systems are successfully in operation throughout the world.
